Tugulawa Early Education is a beloved Community daycare in the Eastern suburbs of Brisbane.

The building is a purpose-built daycare centre from the 1990’s. Part of the main circulation is a high level external ramp and walkway connecting the daycare spaces. Regulations have changed and the walkway needed to be fully protected to prevent falling and the centre asked us to help unlock this area.

Its position sitting in the tree canopies looking over the suburb gave the opportunity to create some breakout spaces for the kids and educators to enjoy the breeze, birds and tree canopies. Treetop platforms akin to a birds nest.

A deceptively difficult project negotiating multiple regulatory requirements, at it’s core aims to be a quiet place for little minds can explore the world from a different perspective.
